Telling your GP you are a Carer
We encourage Carers to let their GP know that they are caring for someone who depends on them.
Caring for someone can take its toll on your mental health & wellbeing. Looking after yourself is often forgotten, but vital to ensure you can continue to care for your loved one. You can not pour from an empty jug!
Remember to let your GP know that you are caring for someone who depends on you.
Consider who else and what services could help you to get a break from caring.

When you are focused on caring, it’s easy to forget or run out of time to focus on yourself and your relationships.
Respite care means taking a break from caring, while the person you care for is looked after by someone else.
Helplines, support groups and other guidance to promote your mental health.
